Song Shul Sale of Chametz 5785

Before Pesach one must get rid of all Chametz (leaven). Chametz that cannot be disposed of may be sold by authorizing Cantor Simon Spiro, or anyone else he may designate as a substitute in his stead, to conduct the necessary transactions on your behalf. Locking your “sold” Chametz away and giving Cantor Spiro this form signed by you, is an easy way to observe one of the most important laws in the Torah.

THIS FORM MUST BE SUBMITTED BY 11:00 PM ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 9. 2025
No exceptions can be made.

Bedikat Chametz (searching for chametz): Thursday night, April 10th, any time after 8:40 PM
Bi-ur Chametz (burning chametz): Friday morning, April 11th, any time before 12:12 PM

Chametz must not be eaten after 11:05 AM, Shabbat morning, April 12th.

I fully empower and permit Cantor Simon Spiro or his designee, to act in my place and stead, and on my behalf to sell all Chametz possessed by me, knowingly or unknowingly as defined by the Torah and Rabbinic Law, and to lease all places in which chamtez owned by me may be found. This includes:

  1. Chametz, possible Chametz, and all kinds of Chametz mixtures
  2. Chametz that tends to harden and adhere to inside surfaces of pans, pots, or cooking utensils
  3. The utensils themselves
  4. Chametz and mixtures thereof eaten by live animals and pets.

Cantor Spiro is also empowered to lease all places wherein the Chametz owned by me may be found, particularly at the address or addresses listed below, and elsewhere.

Cantor Spiro has full right to appoint any agent or substitute in his stead and said substitute shall have full right to sell and lease as provided herein.

Cantor Spiro also has the full power and right to act as he deems fit and proper in accordance with all the details of the Bill of Sale used in the transaction to sell all my Chametz, Chametz mixtures, etc., as provided herein.

This power is in conformity with all Torah, Rabbinic and Civil laws.

I hereby authorize Cantor Simon Spiro to negotiate the sale of all chametz in my possession, specifically, but not exclusively, what is located in the following rooms and closets:

As part of the mitzvah of this season, it is customary to conclude your Sale of Chametz authorization with a contribution to our Congregational Passover Fund, as a token of tzedakah (charity).

Please remember that Chametz which remains in the possession of a Jewish person over Pesach may not be used, eaten, bought or sold even after Pesach.

Ownership of your Chametz will revert to you on Sunday night, April 20, only after 10:00 PM
